Meanwhile, over at Amazon Headquarters, things are eerily quiet. There is no giddiness I can sense from the Blue Taggers (employees) as they lunch on the plaza. Perhaps the news of Borders imminent shuttering has not fully registered. The building looks extra shiny today. The only sound is one of a steamroller, either that or the electonic fluttering of thousands of resumes from soon to be newly laid off Borders employees being transmitted to Amazon's Human Resource Department. That must be it, forget that steamroller stuff, that sound is more mechanical than what's buzzing all around me today on Westlake Avenue.
